The source analysis regressed 17 peak-color seasons against September daily mean temperature for 2008–2025, excluding hurricane-disrupted 2024. Its equation is October day = 1.9015 × September mean °F − 106.42, with R² = 0.62 and p < .001.
A planning signal, not a predictive confidence interval. The relationship is sensitive to the unusually warm 2018 and 2019 seasons and does not quantify an elevation adjustment outside the calibrated band.
